Born from over a decade of experience in working musical theatre productions, the founding of Rent a Pit Productions emerged as a response to two serious needs.
This company is tailored (and constantly evolving!) to address two systemic issues that frequently emerge in this line of work. We are equally committed to these priorities in tandem:
Student Artistic Empowerment
Connecting students, primarily from marginalized and under-resourced backgrounds, with the enriching experience of participating in musical theatre and live music. We believe that this shouldn’t be a privilege reserved only for elite student music departments, but rather is an invaluable component to holistic education and learning development.
Fair Compensation
We do not take the responsibility of this meaningful work lightly. As all of our musicians can attest to, payment for professional hire has often fallen short of reasonable wages, especially within theatre economies. Rent a Pit Productions will work within your budget to provide quality service through transparent negotiation.
The decision to operate as an LLC rather than a non-profit was a conscious choice, and draws inspiration from the ideals of centering goodwill (inspired by James Rhee) and dedication to just practices for all stakeholders.
